Work is progressing well on the second phase of our playground. Swings, musical play pieces and other items have been installed. The poured rubber base will be completed and the wood carpet spread. Next week the new fencing will be installed and the area will be complete!
The playground upgrades are funded by ARPA (Covid) funds, Community Parks and Playgrounds grant, Project Open Space grants, and Deep Creek Lions / Landon's Dream donations.

At our volunteer workday on the Wetland Walking Trail we made improvements to the graveled path. Garrett Trails supplied tools and some volunteers. Maintenance staff, the Mayor, and a couple of residents also worked that morning to fill in low spots that hold water. If you haven't walked the boardwalk and trail, be sure to do so this fall. It is lovely this time of year.

Park Update

Work has begun on the playground renovation! Old landscape timbers and some fencing have been removed. Playground Specialists have removed old pieces and installed the first phase of new play equipment. Please be aware that there may be times that it will not be safe for children to play while work is proceeding. The second part of the project is scheduled for early October. As soon as the second part is complete, all new fencing will be installed around the entire play area.  We apologize for any inconvenience during this process. The results should be awesome!  Thank you for your understanding .

First stage of playground has been installed! We need help to move the mountain of wood chips into the area so that it may be opened for play. Bring a rake if you can help. Work will continue daily until completed.

          Watch Our Progress!

The updates to our playground and park are underway. A new sidewalk and landscaping are completed at the pavilion, and a tree has been removed to allow for paving of new parking spots. The first phase of playground installation is  also complete  (first picture below) and the second phase is to be done in October (second and third pictures)  The second phase will include a poured rubber base that will make the space accessible for persons with physical limitations. This area will be connected to handicap parking spaces and to swings for special needs children.

Deep Creek Lions Club Supports Accessibility                        Enhancements at Loch Lynn Playground

The Deep Creek Lions Club is proud to announce a major step forward in its commitment to inclusive play: the donation of $35,138 to support accessibility improvements and adaptive equipment at the town of Loch Lynn Heights community playground.
This contribution is part of the broader Landon's Dream initiative, which began in 2022 when the Deep Creek Lions Club partnered with Tiffany Georg - mother of Landon Georg - to develop an inclusive playground in Garrett County. Inspired by Landon and fueled by the efforts of his family, friends, and community supporters, more than $24,000 was raised to support the vision of a playground where children and adults of all abilities can play, socialize, and thrive together.
With continued fundraising - including an additional $11,000 from a GoFundMe campaign - the project gained momentum. While long-term plans for a new inclusive playground in Garrett County remain underway, advocates were recently presented with an opportunity to make an immediate and meaningful impact in Landon's own hometown.
The town of Loch Lynn Heights is currently renovating its existing playground with funding from State and Federal grants. In a move to honor Landon's original inspiration, the Deep Creek Lions Club and the Georg family have committed $35,183 from the Landon's Dream fund to enhance accessibility at this site. Upgrades to the play area and park will include handicap parking spaces, a poured rubber surface with musical and other inclusive play equipment, and accessible walkways.
Dr. Michael McCue, Lions Club Chairperson for Inclusive Playground, stated, "This contribution to the Loch Lynn playground will not only honor Landon's legacy but also provide a joyful and inclusive play experience for countless children and families."
